Most of you know that France has already banned 'turbans' for Sikhs. Because France is a true secular state and civil servants who are actually on duty must not have and must not show any sign of their religious belief, be they Jewish, Orthodox, Muslim, Protestant, Catholic or Sikh you name it.
Now, French President Nicholas Sarkozy stirred up the 'Hijab' or 'Burka' debate. While US President Obama wishes to ignore the women's right and freedom issue to please the male dominated Muslim World, President Nicholas Sarkozy chose to acknowledge the free will of a Muslim woman in France.
He said - "any young girl, any girl who wishes to wear a veil or a headscarf may do so, it's her free choice to do so". That means the fact that young girls may choose to wear a veil or a headscarf is not a problem as long as they have actually chosen to do so, as opposed to this being imposed upon them, be it by their families or by their environment.
Among all religions, the most criticized religion is Islam; reason what the Prophet did ( destroyed 360 idols at Kaba , asked to kill idolaters in Surah -9.5 ) and what he preached don't match.

CAIR is an American Civil Rights Group, whose job is demanding more and more civil and religious rights in America and allow concessions at work place for
- Friday Prayer time at work place
- Change existing Driving License Photograph rules to accommodate Islamic women with headscarf.
- Change court entry rules to accommodate Islamic women with headscarf.
- Change bank entry rules to accommodate Islamic women with headscarf.
- Spare X-ray scanning of Islamic women at US Airports because that is as good as watching them without cloths.
Now , after encouraged by president Obama's Muslim love, they are now demanding two Islamic holidays in US schools.
Well, that is a never ending process and they will keep doing this until Shariah law is approved by US Congress/Senate and signed by President Obama. So let us not get in to that.
Hindus and Jews are comfortable with existing work , immigration and federal government rules. No issues. No demand for concessions. Sikhs who wear turban are not allowed to serve in US Army. So occasionally they shout. Of course US is not India, where a Helmet and Sardarji's pagdi (turban) are considered equally safe; In India, Sikhs are spared to wear helmets while driving Motor cycle and working in Industry, where as wearing helmets are compulsory for non-Sikhs.

Dona Stewart said Wednesday the college failed to address complaints from a Muslim-American doctoral student and visiting faculty member who said she was harassed by a senior faculty member at Georgia State last August.
The student, Slma Shelbayah, was repeatedly asked by a GSU professor whether she was carrying any bombs under her hijab, an Islamic headscarf, Stewart said. After that, Shelbayah complained she was stripped of her privileges, such as no longer being allowed to lead a previously approved student-abroad program, Stewart said.
Stewart said she also was subjected to retaliatory actions after refusing to fire Shelbayah.

This is definitely not funny. But, a point to be noted here that even IMuslim girls, who live in America are also either forced to wear hijab or do it because of religious or environmental compulsions. When in a whole class, a girl can't show her face to a professor, taunts or jokes like above will probably continue until Muslim women are given more freedom.
Why Male dominated Islamic society impose Hijab on their women ?
President Nicholas Sarkozy says - "burka diminishes the dignity of women". It is a virtual, mobile prison and alien to France's ideals and values".
To Sarkozy, the head to toe Burka with a face only opening , is not an issue of clothing, religion, faith or a matter of individual choice - but it is a sign of subservience. Few also commented that - such clothing is like a walking tent.
In CNN's Lifting the Veil program, when the following question was asked to 3 educated Afgan youths, who were very close friends.
"Whether they would allow their wives to roam freely without Burka ?" - all said "No".
Even, they were reluctant to show the face of their wives to their close friends.
So, people in west and America believe that the male dominated Islamists use the 'Burka' as a modern version of chastity belt. To know, how a charity belt look like, watch the last 10 minutes of Hollywood movie "Love Guru".
Muslim women can't go to swimming pool; COPs can't scan their body during routine security check and the list is long...
Now our dear President Obama, in his effort to reach out Muslim 'male' world, doesn't wish to acknowledge that the Burka is a modern version of chastity belt. He wants to be sounded "politically correct" - more like a politician.
