Hundred one years --old US woman FB’s oldest user

  101-year-old woman from Palo Alto has taken a liking to Facebook, and has people from all over the world requesting to be her friend -- including Mark Zuckerberg. George Kiriyama reports.

 So you thought it was only the young who get hooked to Facebook According to the social networking site,its oldest registered user is a 101-year-old US woman.

Women over the age of 55 is the fastest growing demographic among the 955 million active Facebook users,The Telegraph reported.Florence Detlor from Menlo Park,California is the social networks oldest registered user.She also became the oldest person to visit Facebooks HQ in Silicon Valley,California.
Detlor was greeted by Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg as well as Sheryl Sandberg,chief operating officer of Facebook during her tour of Facebook recently.Sandberg later posted a photo to Facebook of herself with Detlor and Zuckerberg.

It was accompanied by the caption,Honoured to meet Florence Detlor,who at 101 years old is the oldest registered Facebook user.Thank you for visiting us Florence! According to her profile,Detlor graduated from Occidental College in LA in 1932.She joined FB in August 2009.PTI

A computer class at a community center was all it took for Florence Detlor. The Menlo Park resident is now Internet-savvy, and at 101 years old, she is Facebook's oldest user. Her age even attracted a meet-and-greet with FB's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, whom she called "very reserved, very pleasant."

 

But as for being the oldest Facebook user, Detlor said humbly Tuesday evening: "It's no big deal."

 

Detlor has 1,000 friends and likes to post birthday wishes and also sends "good night" messages to her friends. She said Facebook keeps her connected to the outside world. But she is quick to unfriend someone who leaves political diatribes.

 

Detlor was born right around the same time that the first long distance telephone call was placed in the United States. So she's been cutting-edge for quite some time.

 

And she's also a happy Timeline user.

 

Detlor was born in 1911 and graduated from high school in 1928 before attending Occidental College in Los Angeles.
