Motihari’s famous lad Sushil last month
returned to the podium, which had catapulted him to every TV set in the
country. If last time it was to try his luck at the iconic quiz show,
this time he took the chance to help others achieve success.
Officials of Sony and Big Synergy invited
Sushil back to the KBC set for motivating contestants selected for the
latest season starting Friday. He attended the shoots of the first two
episodes in Mumbai on August 25.2
Sushil though was not alone motivating and
mentoring the 20 new contestants for the show (10 each for each
episode). Moumita Das, a homemaker from Bengal who won Rs 25 lakh, and
Tapan Maiti, a former daily wager in Calcutta Municipal Corporation who
won Rs 12.5 lakh, were also invited.
Back home in Motihari, Sushil recounted
his experience at KBC the second time around. First, it was Amitabh
Bachchan’s encouragement to last year’s successes.
“He (BigB) encouraged us to search for a stable platform in life with the break we received thanks to KBC 5.
He hoped for many more success stories at KBC and that the show
continues to shape lives of sincere contestants in the future,”
recounted Sushil.
Sushil went to boost confidence and
courage of the contestants. “I was invited by the organisers to
encourage and motivate the new contestants, who have been selected to
participate in KBC 6, to a better performance,” Sushil told on Thursday.
“In my address to the new contestants, I
advised them to leave all their inhibitions behind to perform well on
the show. I encouraged them to overcome any complex they have, never to
lose confidence and take courage for achieving desired triumph in life.”
He added: “I also suggested the
contestants appearing on the first and second episodes to play the game
sportingly and not consider the questions by its value. Lust for money
cannot help fetch a huge reward. Rather it would confuse them. I asked
the contestants to put in sincere effort to prove their worth on the
show.”
Wealth had immense power to throw off
balance a common man, something that prompted Sushil to pour water on
his head after winning the jackpot last year. That is exactly what he
told the BigB when the great actor asked Sushil this time why he
drenched himself in water.
He had replied: “I had done so because the warmth of wealth often disbalances, confuses and misleads a common man like me.”
That does not stop wishing for success to every common man like him. The motivator said: “I wish that KBC 6 produces
at least one Sushil Kumar from different parts of the country every
week. I hope it proves before the universe that India has the largest
number of genius, who have been surprising the world, in every
discipline of life.”
Sushil has, without a doubt, surprised “in
every discipline” — from knowledge to talents. His success on KBC gave
Sushil the chance to come before another great of the entertainment
world — Madhuri Dixit — and perform before being eliminated.
On his other ventures following KBC, he
said: “I was nominated as the brand ambassador for Mahatma Gandhi
National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme in Bihar but
after one advertisement, and that too without any remuneration, the
Union rural development ministry has become silent and is not concerned
about any further involvement on my part in MGNREGA.”
Now, he is bent on making something of his
career. His last attempt to clear the civil services examination this
year proved futile. Sushil plans to prepare for PhD for a stable
platform. His family — parents and wife Seema — also said it was time
that Sushil sincerely exerted himself to work for a strong footing.
Quoting English author Virginia Woolf from
one of her essays, Sushil said: “Life is not a series of gig-lamps
symmetrically arranged; life is a luminous halo, a semi-transparent
envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end.”
He added: “Happiness is short-lived and I am adamant to find a
permanent platform soon.”
