Patna : The Center's Inter-Ministerial Group constituted to study Bihar's demand for special category state status held its first meeting with Bihar's officials on Monday 26th march 2012 in New Delhi.Bihar's case was presented by chief secretary Navin kumar, principal secretary, planning and development ,Vijay Prakash, finance commissioner Rameshwar Singh and CM Nitish Kumar's secretary Chanchal Kumar.
Commenting on the meeting ,CM Nitish Kumar said here the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere. "Our officials put up the case forcefully and now it is up to the Center to take a decision," he said and added that the team of officials was satisfied with talks.
The Inter-Ministerial Group is headed by Planning Commission's member-secretary Sudha Pilli,who had called the meeting. The group was constituted at PrimMinister Manmohan Singh's behest in September last following the pressure mounted by Bihar CM. A JD (U) delegation had called on the PM with about 1.25 crore signatures in favour of special category status to the state.
