Bihari girl got admission to Paris university.

Bihari girl Richa Saraswat has brought laurels to Bihar by securing admission to do Masters in Economic Law from one of the most prestigious universities of the world, Sciences Po, Paris.

Sciences Po, also known as Paris Institute of Political Studies in English, was established in 1872 by French educationists, politicians and businessmen led by its founder Emile Boutmy. In 2014, it was ranked 13th best university in the world in the QS World University Rankings. Admission to the university is made through a highly competitive, international procedure as part of which the academic profile of the aspirant is also evaluated.

Richa is currently pursuing her studies at National Law School of India University-Bangalore where admission is made through an all-India competition known as Common Law Admission Test. Under an education exchange programme, the 22-year-old completed one semester of her graduation from Sciences Po from August to December 2013 with outstanding performance. An alumna of St Joseph's Convent High School-Patna, she completed her Class XII in 2008.

Asked about her ambition, Richa, who is currently vacationing at hometown, told TOI she would use her expertise in Economic Law with theory and formulas to address growing economic disparity between the rich and the poor in India. This disparity is there despite the fact Article 39 (C) of our Constitution does not approve of "the operation of the economic system" that result in the concentration of wealth and means" in few hands, she said and added she aspired to join higher judiciary.

Richa attributed her success to academic guidance of her dad, Prof Shiva Jatan Thakur, and brother Kumar Shashwat, a merchant navy officer in Pentagon Marine Shipping Company Limited.
