PATNA : . Science Express -- a 16-coach train for promoting scientific temper -- began its fifth journey, this time to raise awareness about the country's unique biodiversity.The 'Science Express - Biodiversity Special (SEBS)' was flagged off by Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at the Delhi Safdarjang Railway Station reaching Patna Jn. on platform number 10 till Sunday for the visitors.The Science Express will be reaching here for the second time. It had come to Patna Junction last year and had evoked good response from the people.
The exhibition mission and theme to showcase the wide array of biodiversity in the country and the conservation measures adopted thereof. The exhibition also showcases aspects of Climate Change, Water, Energy Conservation, Environment and Legacy of the Science Express. Additionally, the train also houses the extremely popular Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre( VASCSC) Joy of Science hands-on lab as well as teachers’ training facility.

In the railcars of the Science Express, visitors traverse modern scientific topics – from the search for the smallest particles to research into the fundaments of life and detecting the biggest structures in the universe. Modern multimedia technology and innovative exhibits show where the cutting edge of research currently stands in the world and which new topics are breaking new ground, how the different spheres of knowledge are interrelated and how they will affect our lives in the future.

The exhibition is open for all, especially school and college students and teachers.
Students visiting the exhibition have enjoyed learning about cutting-edge research in science; explained through interesting audio-visual exhibits and interactive tools. After the successful run over four phases, this iconic train is now being launched as ‘Science Express - Biodiversity Special’ in its fifth phase. special attraction of the Science Express is an impressive view of ' Ganga Ke Maidan' based on the beauty of Nature. There is a mobile laboratory on this special train. Visitors, particularly school students, can enjoy viewing the Science Express special train during its stay here on June 9 and 10, he said, adding the special train is nicknamed 'Joy of science'.
"The coaches of the train, Science Express, encompass seven biogeographic areas of the country like Trans Himalaya and the Himalaya, The Gangetic Plain, North East India, The Western Ghats among others. There is also a coach dedicated to climate change and energy conservation,"

The express train will travel to other cities like Rangia, Mariani, Dimapur, Siliguri among others.
According to Danapur rail division PRO R K Singh, the NCC scouts will guide the visitors on the platform. There will be no need to purchase platform ticket while visiting Patna Junction to view the Science Express, he said, adding the visiting time will be from 9am to 5pm on both days.
