New Delhi: It is that time of the year again, when Delhi University (DU) starts with its admission process and students start eyeing a seat in their dream colleges.
The University is all set to conduct a series of entrance test for its professional courses, with some entrance exams starting even before the actual admission process, which is June 4. So, it is high time for students to be quick on their toes to avoid missing important
The Combined Journalism Entrance Test (CJET) and the Joint Entrance Test for BA (honours) in Business Economics, Business Studies and Financial Investment Analysis will be conducted by the faculty of applied social sciences and humanities on June 3'rd. And hence, there will be a gap of 6 hours between both the tests.
Courses like BBE, BBS and BFIA are among the popular courses for commerce students and the student is required to have studied mathematics in Class XII. A total of 19, 000 applications has been received by the faculty for against 891 seats. So, as the competition is going to be a tough one, teachers have advised candidates to practice sample question papers to score well and secure a seat in their desired courses.
Poonam Verma, principal, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies that offers all the three courses said that the students should have a good quantitative and reasoning abilities and should try solving previous years' papers. The pattern of the paper may not necessarily be the same but it will give them a good practice. She further added that the students should be extra careful to not to answer by fluke as they will be negatively marked for wrong answers, she said.
Students who are set to appear for CJET should be imperative to read newspapers everyday and catch up with political and social developments as well as current affairs. Tarjeet Sabharwal, Convenor, CJET 2012 said that they expect aspiring journalist to be aware of what's going on around them and to have good language skills. Moreover, they should be able to comprehend and comment on various issues, advised Tarjeet. CJET 2012 is likely to have objective-type questions as well as essays.
Though BA (honours) journalism primarily focuses on news media, but students can also opt for other branches of media like film-making and new media by studying bachelor of mass media and mass communication (BMMMC) offered only at IP College for Women.
The BMMMC forms will be available from June 1st to June 20th. The test will be conducted in two rounds comprising of an objective type eliminatory round on July 1st and another second round of test on July 6th.
Manasvini M Yogi, Convenor, BMMMC, said that the candidates need to have a good general awareness and an equally good command on English. The course has 52 seats, including 26 for the general category. She further added that the course also offers exciting placements at the end of the final year, with an average salary of 25,000.
Beside, the professional courses, DU also conducts a common entrance test for BA (honours) English and this year a total of 21 colleges will admit students to the course through the teat, which is scheduled to be held on June 9.
So, this is definitely the season to keep all the DU aspirants on toes.
