Its heart-rending to hear about the passing of Dr Misra. I come from Assam and Dr Misra had a special link with Assam in so far as his monumental work "History of Maithili Literature", he had devoted ample space to the Vrajawali literature of Mahapurusa Sankaradeva, the foremost Saint of Assam. In fact, he had a very durable relationship with many of the Assamese scholars of language and literature. I remember seeing his comments appear in the Late Dimbeswar Neog's "History of Assamese Literature" which was incidentally the second major history of a MIL composed after Dr Misra. Dr. Misra's passing has left a void which is well nigh unfillable. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace.
Tribute to him from the People of Assam
