Special package must for industrial development: BIA
PATNA: The Bihar Industries Association (BIA) here on Tuesday stressed that the Central government must give special package to Bihar on the pattern
of the package given to Himachal Pradesh and North Eastern states for industrial development. This would allure outside investments in Bihar as in a free economy the potential investors go into enterprise only when there are facilities with no encumbrance, said BIA president K P Jhujhunwala.
He was speaking at an interactive meet with the mediapersons at the BIA auditorium. To a TOI query, he said that a team of BIA members, who will attend the NRIs' meet at Chennai, would try to instil confidence in the NRIs in Bihar by "match making" (joint enterprise) with the local (Bihari) partners. He added that the BIA would act as facilitating agency, arrange NRIs' "match making" with local partners and would also seek NRIs' coordination for restructuring of distressed assets of the (sick) industries. The others present at the interactive meet were BIA secretary general Ram Lall Khetan, vice-president S N Ashraf and treasurer Hemant Kumar Das.
Jhujhunwala said that there was huge potential for growth of ancillary industries in Bihar to cater to the needs of a rail coach factory and other industries. Stressing on propping up the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bihar, he said that preparations are afoot to organize on a grand scale the seminar on "SME -- Vehicle for Economic Prosperity of the State" on February 4 here. An exhibition would also be organized at which the Kapurthala Coach Factory would have its stall to scan the potential ancillary supply by Bihari entrepreneurs

He said that after completion of three years of the NDA regime in Bihar, it is left with two years to complete its term. "During this last lap, the state government
is supposed to pace up the development process with innovative measures," he added. With this point of view, the fourth Run-for-Development would be organized at Patna on February 22 from Raj Bhawan to Gandhi Maidan inviting all the people to join the solemn urge for development, he said.
