The Bihar government has planned to open a knowledge centre which will help technical degree holders get jobs.
Christened Bihar Knowledge Centre (BKC), the centre would offer short-term courses, specially designed to make engineering, infotech and computer graduates and post graduates fit for employment. The state government has assigned the task of setting up the BKC to Beltron and earmarked a fund of Rs 50 lakh for the purpose. The centre is likely to become functional by the end of this year.

"Most of the industries look for ready-to-use material while hiring
technical hands, and the BKC will train the technical degree holders to
make them ready-for-use hands," said Beltron official P C Choudhary.
To begin with, the BKC, which is coming up at Lalit Bhawan here, would have two batches of 30 students each. Beltron has reached an agreement with Oracle, Intel and Microsoft which would train the BKC trainers. These trainers, in turn, would train the students joining the BKC.
Beltron has also entered into a pact with employers like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Stanco and Tulip which have consented to hold campus selection camps at the BKC. "We are in talks with other such firms," Choudhary said.
Apart from honing the IT skills of its students, BKC would also impart them "soft training" through a special course that would cover spoken English, how to face an interview and how to make one's presence felt during a group discussion.
Choudhary said the government has plans to open more BKCs - at least one in every engineering college of the state.
