PATNA: Patna University students may have been denied the use of mobile phones
inside examination halls, but they are using this electronic device
frequently to tease university officials and teachers by sending
messages to seek response to queries regarding exams.
In an SMS sent to PU students' welfare dean, Ezaj Ali Arshad, a student quipped, "Can't we have a T20 type examination? Instead of holding examinations for three long hours (which appears like a Test match), the university should hold examination of only one-hour duration on the pattern of a T20 cricket match."
In another SMS sent to a senior PU teacher, a student suggested, "Our syllabus should be like a mini skirt covering the vital parts and exposing the superficial portions of a topic."
Several such messages are being received by PU officials and teachers who are busy conducting the ongoing undergraduate and postgraduate examinations of the university in a fair manner. Even though they have tried to plug the loopholes in the system to check the use of unfair means, examinees show their innovative ways of cheating at the examinations.
Some centre superintendents wondered how the examinees managed to get chits and notes inside the examination halls despite their body search at the entrance. An examinee at the Patna Science College centre on Wednesday was found hiding chits inside his undergarments, said the college's geology department head M N Sinha.
Some examinees hide their chits and notes in the toilets well before the commencement of examination and collect the chits during examination period. Some invigilators also hinted at the possible involvement of class-IV staff, preferably water boys, who bring answers of specific questions from outside and delivers them to the concerned examinees for monetary consideration.
