PATNA: A Bihar-born Indo-Western fashion designer
and choreographer, Nitish Chandra, will showcase his collection at an
international platform - the second edition of 'Ivory Coast Fashion
Week-2012' in Abidjan and Grand Bassam (South Africa) from May 2 to 6 on
the theme 'fashion industry'.
Nitish is famous for his organic bridal, evening and business wears made up of pure khaddar, jute, Bhagalpuri silk with brocade and velvet giving them with western pattern and look.
Nitish is the official wardrobe designer of Reet Sahu at 'Mrs India International-2012' in Atlanta from May 25 and Deepali Phadnis at 'Mrs Asia International-2012' to be held in Chicago, Illinois in July. He will also showcase his collections at 'New York Fashion Week-2012' in October.
This 27-year-old fashion designer and son of an engineer, Nitish told TOI, "To show Bihar the broader aspects of designing and clothing I shall be setting up a model grooming institute and launching my signature store in Patna soon."
Nitish, who was born in Purnia, dropped out while in the third year of engineering course to pursue his passion for fashion designing. He completed his bachelor's degree in apparel and fashion designing in 2007 from Garden City College, Bangalore. After staying for five years in Bangalore and three years in Mumbai, Nitish now plans to professionally settle down in Bihar. He said, "Bihar is still far behind in terms of following fashion trends and I am determined to create such an environment here."
