PATNA: Magadh University (MU) has ranked 17th in the list of country's 20 best universities prepared by Indian Council of Marketing Research (ICMR), a private market research agency.
MU officiating VC Arun Kumar attributed the achievement to improved academic environment in the university and its constituent colleges. "Kudos to our teachers and staff who have been relentlessly working hard for long. Each teaching staff engaged either in research work or in guiding research scholars deserves credit," he said.
The MU teachers have been attending national and international seminars and conferences on a regular basis and contributing articles to national and international journals and research projects, the VC said and added the university and most of its colleges had been linked to several foreign countries online to facilitate exchange of ideas on ongoing research projects in various fields.
According to Kumar, the university has of late introduced several vocational courses. "There is hardly any university in the country which is as big as MU insofar as academic activities are concerned," he said and added MU offered the highest number of professional courses.
The university, he said, has also introduced courses in several foreign languages and a large number of students from Buddhist countries as well as other countries are pursuing studies and research work at the university. The state government also contributed a lot to the development of the university, he said.
