This Republic Day
will bring a special moment of pride for three bright Bihar boys
invited as they have been to watch the celebrations from the Prime
Minister's box at Vijay Chowk on the Rajpath.
Patna's Kumar Abhishek and Biharshrif's Prince Amit and Mubbashir Hasan are among the 100 meritorious students who have been shortlisted from all over the country for the honour.
Kumar Abhishek, an alumnus of Patna's St Michael's High School, scored
97.8% to top the CBSE's Class XII exam in Bihar and Jharkhand in 2012.
The Michaelite ranked all-India 1168 in IIT-JEE 2012, and is currently
doing BTech from Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur.Abhishek has also built a few machines.
His creations include an automatic school bell timer and an automatic
crop irrigator for which he got the first prize at an exhibition
organised by Srikrishna Science Centre last year.
First tools…
That Abhishek laid his hands on to
assemble his early gadgets belonged to his maternal uncle Ashutosh Kumar
Mehta. Apart from his uncle, Abhishek’s parents — Manoj and Anamika
Kakkar — are a constant support.
Computer savvy…
Abhishek knows different languages such as
C, C++, C#, VB and Java. A Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana fellow
last year, he also topped the 2010 ICSE in Bihar. Abhishek and his
partner beat 50 school teams to win the All India Inter-School
Championship Technothlon 2009 organised by IIT-Guwahati at the
institute’s fest. He had also aced the American Spell Bee 2009, an
inter-school event organised by American Center, Calcutta.
Career concern…
Is the last thing on Abhishek’s mind. The teen is confident he will become a scientist one day.
Abhishek said he was busy
these days designing a robot for a fest in his college scheduled for
February. "Yes, I am quite excited and look forward to meeting PM Manmohan Singh - for the first time. Also, I cannot wait to watch live the spectacular show put up by our Army which I always saw on TV," he said and added he would be off to Delhi on January 25.
Amit and Mubbashir, students of Biharsharif's Sadre Alam Memorial
School, topped the CBSE's Class X examination in Nalanda district in
2012. A jubilant Sadre Alam Memorial School principal Rubina Nishat told not only the school management but the entire town was proud of the
sons of the soil.
The duo would be state guests and the
arrangements for their travel, stay and food have been made by the
government, principal Nishat said and added after the security clearance
from Nalanda SP Nishant Kumar Tiwari, the two boys would leave for
Delhi on January 23.
Amit is son of a schoolteacher, Chandramauli Mishra, while Mubbashir's father Khalid Hasan works in a bank in Patna. Abhishek's dad Manoj Kakkar is also a banker while mom Anamika Kakkar a homemaker.
