Patna: Bihar Governor Debananda Konwar, at the Rajendra Chowk just outside the Raj Bhawan in Patna on Wednesday, handed out tricycles to 24 physically disabled people and hearing aids to 15 deaf persons.
The Governor was participating in a program sponsored by the Bihar unit of the Indian Red Cross.
Thanking the Red Cross and the UNICEF for continuing to work for the humanity in general, Konwar said that their contribution to the society, particularly in areas where help was hard to reach, was highly commendable and praiseworthy.
He also urged the state government to ensure completion of various projects under the Five Year Plan in rural areas. "Unless these schemes are completed in a timely fashion, their inauguration don't mean much," Konwar said.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Red Cross Bihar Director S. P. Singh, Dr. A. A. Hai, and Dr. Ajay Kumar.
Among those present on the occasion included Dr. B. B. Sinha, Lili Gupta, Vinita Agrawal and others.
