Nitish Kumar happy for cricketer "YV"


Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed happiness over the return of cricketer Yuvraj Singh from the US after undergoing chemotherapy sessions for the treatment of cancer. "Yuvraj has won fighting cancer and people should take a lesson from him ... I pray to God for his better performance in cricket and life," he told reporters on the sidelines of his Janata Durbar on Monday.
CAG report: The CM, who met the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in New Delhi, rejected the Opposition demand for a CBI inquiry into alleged misappropriation of funds and non-submission of detailed contingency (DC) bills against the withdrawal. He said the CAG used to submit reports in every state and there was a constitutional provision of its scrutiny by the Public Accounts Committee of the state legislature. "Now it has become a fashion for the opposition parties to comment on the CAG reports," he added.
Agitation: Residents of Cheena Kothi here, under the banner of Cheena Kothi Ghar Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, continued their agitation for the second consecutive day on Monday. They staged a dharna which was presided over by one Ajay Kumar Patel. RJD state president Ramchandra Purve, LJP state general secretary Raghvendra Singh Kushwaha and CPM district committee member Rajesh Kumar Raj visited them. They said the people of Cheena Kothi should not be displaced unless the government made alternate arrangements for them.
CPI assails Centre: CPI state executive committee, at a meeting on Monday, criticized the Centre for making power sector a part of its economic reforms and liberalization policy. The reforms in the power sector had led to scrapping of power boards in the states, except in Jharkhand and Bihar, it said. The party, on April 13, would protest against the recent hike in power tariff in the state. A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the state working committee which was chaired by U N Mishra.
Felicitation: The 75th Foundation Day celebration of Bengali Association concluded on Monday. Eight Bengali-speaking students from different schools and colleges were felicitated on the occasion. The association also honoured six teachers, including septuagenarian Brojen Kumar Guha of Mithapur B Area. Prabhas Roy of Rabindra Parishad was honoured for his services to develop Rabindra Bhavan.
IIBM: Prof Rahul has joined the Indian Institute of Business Management, Patna, as a member of its advisory board. He has a strong background in academics, said IIBM Society's director general U K Singh.
