Aryabhatt Knowledge University to be developed as research centre, says vice-chancellor



PATNA: The Aryabhatt Knowledge University (AKU) will soon be developed as a centre for research in medical sciences, its vice-chancellor S N Guha said while inaugurating the annual function of Physiological Society of India (Bihar chapter) at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) here on Wednesday.
Dr Guha also announced that the research centre for nanotechnology would be opened on Thursday. A team of experts from central universities had already reached here for the opening.
PMCH principal Dr N P Yadav said an intensive assessment system for students was being developed in the college. Specialized classes would be arranged for them to improve their academic standards, he said.
Noted physician Dr Gopal Prasad Sinha said the society, this year, would organize seminars and symposia in different super-speciality departments for better training of postgraduate medical students. President of the society's Bihar chapter, Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, said the Patna Medical College and Hospitalhas decided to take students to areas inhabited by poor people to study the problems of poverty and sanitation-related diseases.
He also said computer-simulated learning programme had also been started at Patna Medical College and Hospital which would help the students in studies.
Prizes were distributed among the students for their excellent academic performance.
