Message of Hon'ble Chief Minister

Eastern
India is standing on the threshold of 2nd Green Revolution and there
is no doubt that Bihar because of its distinct advantages of fertile
land, water availability, hard working young work force and ability to
adapt to modern techniques, would be leading it. The first Green
Revolution in the Long run proven to be ecological unsustainable.
Therefore it is not necessary that the methods and approach of the 1st
green revolution would hold ground in the eastern region. Now, different
methods and policies would have to be adopted to achieve the twin
objectives of productivity enhancement and medium environment damage.
For this, organic farming is a productive system that sustain the soil
health, ecosystem and people. This farming system perspective must
integrate location-specific improved technologies and enterprise. This
will be an appropriate approach to achieve the goals of food security as
well as sustainable Agriculture.
I am happy to note that department of agriculture in collaboration
with ICA Research Complex for Eastern Region decided to invite
stakeholders from across the world to popularize organic farming in the
state by organizing three days "International Conference on Organic
Bihar at Patna from June 22-24, 2011. I hope that the strategies worked
out in this conference will be helpful in preparing the blue print of
organic farming for the state. It is our dream that every Indian kitchen
should have at least one agro-product from Bihar and I hope this
International conference will help realize our dream.
I convey my best wishes for successful organization of this conference.
Sri Nitish Kumar
Hon'ble Chief Minister, Bihar
